Aruncus is a large, sturdy, bushy perennial with yellow-green Astilbe-like foliage. The cultivar ‘Child of Two Worlds’ is a slightly smaller version of the species. In late June-early July, proliferous plumes of white flowers wave above the foliage. This is a stunning plant that looks more like a shrub than a perennial. Give it a moist location, and it requires no maintenance. Well-established Aruncus can successfully compete with tree roots. Our Aruncus is sited near roof run-off areas and underneath trees in part shade. In full sun, Aruncus will require watering. Like Astilbe, Aruncus will shrivel and crisp if allowed to dry out. Will slowly spread in a circular clump to form a very large plant. Deer will browse the foliage if preventive measures are not taken.
