Lychnis chalcedonica 'Lipstick' is a an attractive cultivar that features bronze, lancelolate foliage on sturdy stems. Clusters of brilliant orange-red flowers appear atop stems in mid-summer. Supposedly deer-resistant. However, we have found that woodchucks and rabbits will demolish emerging plants if not ringed with wire in early spring. Does not require staking. We have found our plantings to suffer from significant winter die-back in several different locations in our garden. We have removed it from our garden.
