Itoh peonies are hybrids between tree peonies (Paeonia suffriticosa) and herbaceous peonies (Paeonia lactiflora). ‘Maroon Dragon Claw’ is a mounding, sturdy-stemmed plant with lance-like leaves. Stunning, dark blood red blooms with yellow central stamens appear in June. This plant will take 2-3 years to establish before it will bloom, but the blossoms are worth the wait! Very showy. Deer have never bothered this plant.
