'Trehane' forms low-growing mounts of striking yellow foliage comprise of miniature serrated leaves. In June small bright blue, contrasting flowers emerge. 'Trehane' is prone to flopping open later in the season. This is easily prevented by placing a small arched square of chicken wire over the emerging plant in early spring. The plant will grow through and hide the wire and remain tidy for the whole season. This plant is so attractive is is worth this little extra effort. It will spread only very slowly. This is one of the earliest perennial plants we bought for the garden from an area nursery.
These slowly died out on us over the years, and are very difficult to find. We have not replaced them.
